Mountain View, Calif., – August 8, 2016 – FADU Inc., a storage startup that is developing NVMe solutions, is making its debut at Flash Memory Summit 2016. At the event, FADU will be exhibiting its first NVMe SSD product at booth #715. FADU will also be delivering a presentation on their disruptive SSD controller technology during the event.
The new storage device is a top performing NVMe SSD, providing up to 5.0GB/s of both sequential read and sequential write speeds via the PCIe 3.0 x8 connection. Random read speeds are stated as over 1,100,000 IOPS, with sustained random 4K write speeds of up to 500,000 IOPS.
FADU is able to achieve this level of performance from just a single FPGA controller that is based on their newly designed and developed innovative architecture. The enterprise NVMe SSD market has numerous high-performance NVMe SSDs that utilize multiple FPGA or ASIC controllers, as each single controller alone is not able to achieve the targeted performance level.
To sidestep this performance hurdle, FADU started from the ground up in designing and developing their new controller architecture, rather than trying to achieve incremental increases with legacy architectures. This is the first iteration of an NVMe SSD utilizing this new controller design.
